Haunted Forest

Somewhere in the eastern part of Helsinki there is a very spooky forest.
Hidden within the forest are at least half a dozen old abandoned houses. Some of them have burned down, some are just locked up and others fall apart along the years.
Inside the houses you can find remains of lifes once lived in them – dusty clothes, toys, magazines…
I haven´t so far found out why and when this forest has been abandoned.
I´m not giving an exact location since it would be a shame to crowd this place. Contact me if you don´t manage to find it by yourself and I can give you some hints.
Update from a comment by Ervasti from 13.08.2008:
“Those wooden buildings used to belong to former German nobles, but after 2nd WW those were captured by Soviet Union due the Paris Peace Treat 1947 where all German property was given to Soviet Union.. during decades property was sold/given/etc. and it belongs to City of Helsinki. That pond of water has a underwater well which is refreshing it and there was a pier for swimmers.”

Hi,
this place seems to be ideal to spend a day taking photos there. Could somebody tell me how to get there? I just recently moved to Helsinki (so I have no idea how to find it myself :) ) and am really happy that I found this blog!

We’re 2 “urban explorers” (invading abandoned houses – castles – factories for photography) from Belgium. We’re coming to Helsinki soon. Your site is a great help to find all the unusual locations. Could you please please give us some hints to find this incredible forest?
thanks o’lot!!!

Those wooden buildings used to belong to former German nobles, but after 2nd WW those were captured by Soviet Union due the Paris Peace Treat 1947 where all German property was given to Soviet Union.. during decades property was sold/given/etc. and it belongs to City of Helsinki.
That pond of water has a underwater well which is refreshing it and there was a pier for swimmers.
I hope this peaceful place will be left remaining without tourists.. until it is built up in the near future..
